"There has been a general trend for more less-invasive procedures to be done. What we're finding is that financially people can't afford the downtime (after an invasive surgery), so they look to soft tissue fillers, thread lifts. That's why we've seen the explosion of Botox and similar techniques."
For instance, one popular procedure is microdermabrasion, or the "lunchtime peel," where dead facial skin is removed to give clients a youthful glow.
Calder Place Family Practice (Skinologie) offers the chemical-free Diamond Peel Microdermabrasion, using diamond particles to sandblast and vaccum up the dead skin, according to nurse practitioner Francis Mijares.
The process sounds worse than it is, said Mijares.
"It basically feels like a cat is licking you," he chuckled as he applied the sandpaper vacuum hybrid.
Mijares understands why people in certain work areas would seek the procedures he offers.

Botox parties — groups of patients who schedule their age-defying injections in a party-like setting — are a growing trend nationwide. Critics say the parties are little more than happy-hour narcissism, others say the practice is safe in an authorized setting.
Francis Mijares, owner and nurse practitioner at Skinologie and Calder Place Family Practice, began hosting Friday afternoon parties earlier this month."
